Why have some of my Probiotic capsules dried up?

We use a cryoprotectant technology to avoid refrigeration, and when our probiotics are exposed to prolonged heat, humidity, or light, they can "activate". This will present as hard, crystalized "powder" (powder that becomes hard, crystalized, and brown in color).
